Additional Project Details
High-performance buildings require high-performance windows. PFG supplied the insulated glass units for the Net-Zero Energy-Ready Challenge award winning Simon Fraser University SFU Parcel 21. Argon-filled, triple glazed (Cardinal 366/Clear/Cardinal 270) IGUs with a very low solar heat gain coefficient SHGC of 0.17 was specified to reduce the likelihood of overheating in the summer months.
Cardinal 366 IGUs with an SHGC of 0.4 were paired with aluminum framed Kawneer Company, Inc. 1600 Wall System® curtainwall for the entrance lobbies. The curtain wall has an overall effective U-value of 1.987 W/(m²K). Fixed sunshades were installed over select windows to provide additional solarcontrol. ICD High Performance Coatings OPACI-COAT-300 water-based silicone spandrel was selected for the spandrel units.
Glass Type / Products used:
- 6mm Cardinal 366 Low-E
- 6mm Cardinal 270 Low-E
- OPACI-COAT-300® Silicone Spandrel Coating
